November & December 2013 Newsletter
November & December 2013 Newsletter
So since I was so behind on publishing the newsletters for November & December I have decided to combine them! It’s a New Year now and my promise to you is that I will have them published in a timely manner!
Starting with November 5th Meeting: We had a total of 12 teams present at our usual 1st Tuesday Hot Spot iHop. Those teams included Teams Davis, Gold, Parish/Killough, Derks, White, Connell, Trevino, Summers, Roberts, Brown, Huebel/Smith, Seagroves and Baethge. It seems that we had several birthdays to celebrate in November and those included Jeff Huebel on the 9th of November, Melanie Derks on the the 12th of November, Lee Roberts on the 17th of November and last but certainly not least Jesse Sanchez on the 20th of November. Brent and Leslie also celebrated an Anniversary on the 6th of November. Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday guys and gals!
Since our awesome Tournament Director was unable to attend the meeting Brent Parish filled in and announced the winners from the Inks Lake tournament. 3rd Place was Team Davis with 7.50lbs, 2nd Place was Team Summers with 9.29lbs and 1st place was Team Seagroves with 11.93lbs. Women’s Big Bass award went to Emily Smith with a 3.51lb bass and Men’s Big Bass went to Joe Connell with a 4.14lb bass. Congrats to ALL of you! Now on to our November 2-day tournament at Lake Fayette! Club members voted to have tournament times for Saturday the 9th be 6am-3pm weighing in at Oak Thicket Park and Sunday’s times were 6am -2pm. The club will now be using the NEW State of Texas Conversion Chart for all paper tournaments. When we fish a slot late as a paper tournament the tournament director will let club members know what item to place in the fish photos. In these photos the fish mush keep his mouth shut and have his/her tail pinched! Some of the men in the club would say it’s easier for the fish to keep their mouth shut than it is for their wives to keep their mouth shut! Ha ha! One fish 24inches or larger may be brought in per person fishing to be weighed in as a Big Bass. Members voted to have the January tournament on January 18th. We will need to find a new place to launch since the yacht club is now charging to park.
On to PARTY business! Joe Connell has reserved the UT club for the 4th of January and each couple will need to pay $80. The party will start at 6pm. Marilyn will come up with a game and we will also have our gift exchange “White Elephant” style. Thank you Marilyn and Joe for all of your hard work for the annual party! We will have our monthly meeting on January 7th.
December we will hold our annual Charity Raffle where all members bring in gifts to be raffled off and all monies will go to a charity that we will vote on at the December Meeting.
Nominations were made for New Club Officers and they were as follows:
Web Master- Brent Parish – FINAL

The only positions we will need to vote on in December will be the Tournament Director and President. These will be voted on at the December meeting.
The last thing is that we need to figure out when National Pancake Night will be at iHop. That date has not been released yet.
Emily held the raffle! – Now on to December’s meeting.

A Very Happy Anniversary to some of our newest members Jason and Jen Brudnicki who celebrated on December 28th! Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to you all!
Now on to tournament talk with Allen Summers. We had a great time at the November 2-day tournament at Lake Fayette. Winners of this tournament were 3rd Place- Team Summers with 26.18lbs, 2nd Place- Team Brown with 27.09lbs and 1st Place- Team Parish/Killough with 28.34lbs! The winning teams caught their fish on a variety of lures including top water baits, spinner baits, Carolina rigs and shaky heads with plum worms and a variety of watermelon colored soft plastics. The members who fished had a great time grilling and talking and sharing fish stories!
The December tournament is scheduled for December 7th at Decker Lake and since there was inclement weather due to come in that weekend we talked about changing the tournament to another weekend….. HOWEVER, we decided to keep the date the same and voted to start the tournament at 9am… This did not make a difference, it was still COLD! I’ll tell this story at the January meeting and post it afterwards! Tournament times were 9am-2pm at the only ramp available!
Now came the time to vote in the New President and Tournament Director for 2014. No vote was actually needed seeing as how Robby Baethge withdrew his name from the nominations and Brenda Davis will now be our new President and Allen Summers withdrew his name from the nomination leaving Wayne Seagroves as the new Tournament Director! Thank you for serving as officers lady and gent!
Just an FYI Please bring information to the January meeting for our Spring 2-day Tournament (Lake and Lodging info.)
The club voted to have the Capital Area Food Bank receive the monies collected from the Charity Raffle.
Thank you to the ENTIRE CLUB for bringing in so many items for the raffle. We are a fairly small club but were able to raise some money to donate. Thank you Emily for running the raffle each and every month!
I also wanted to thank all of the officers for all of their hard work throughout the year and A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO JOE AND MARILYN CONNELL for all of their hard work over the years setting up the annual party and making sure everything runs smoothly! Thank you to Brenda Davis for the Beautiful award plaques that you put together each year! You all are very much appreciated even if you do not hear it all of the time! Thanks again!
Keep those lines tight and we will see you soon!
