October 2015 Newsletter
As I started to write the October Newsletter, I realized that I never wrote the September Newsletter. Oops! I apologize to all those that were left out of the loop and will send Mr. Parish a list of all the teams that did attend that meeting.
The Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club of Austin held their October monthly meetings at the usual spot (Threadgill’s on North Lamar) on the first Tuesday of the month. We had 7 teams attend our October meeting (Anderson, Davis, Derks, Gast, Summers, Trevino and Wilson).
For those of you who missed the meeting, here is a recap:
President Anderson started the meeting off by wishing a Happy Birthday to Wayne Seagroves (10/8) and Rob Gast (10/26) and a Happy Anniversary to Lesli and Robert Brown (10/11).
Treasurer Cliff Davis was absent from the meeting but sent the Treasurers report for us to all review.
Our Tournament Director Allen Summers gave us the results of the September 13th tournament on Fayette Lake where twelve teams participated. The final results were: Team Anderson 3rd place with 17.92 lbs., Team Derks 2nd place with 20.22 lbs. and Team Brown 1st place with 27.65 lbs. No fish over slot was caught, therefore, there was no big bass winner this month.
Next up on the TD agenda was to have members present vote for a time and weigh-in location for our October 17th Lake Buchanan tournament. It was decided that it will be held from 6:30am – 3:00pm and weigh in will be held at Burnet County Park.
TD Summers then asked for nominations for a December tournament location and date. Members present voted for the December tournament to be held on December 5th at Stillhouse Hollow Lake. Since we are required to get a permit from the Corps of Engineers we have selected Union Grove for the weigh in location.
Just one tournament reminder: The Fall 2-day tournament will be held on Lake Fork on 11/14-11/15.
Next up President Anderson gave a TABC tournament update. The following four teams represented MMBC- Team Anderson, Team Brown, Team Trevino and Team Wilson. MMBC took 6th place overall. For those wondering how the weigh in went- it was very smooth and well organized. Next year’s TABC tournament will held on Lake Livingston.
Next up Rose Marie Trevino has a special request to anyone traveling and staying in hotels. Please keep the small travel soaps and shampoos and bring them to the next meeting. Rose Marie is collecting these and will drop them off at Safe Place in December.
VP Trevino would also like to invite anyone that is able to participate in the “Soldiers on the Water” event that will be held on October 31st on Lake Bastrop. Please contact Pete for more information. They are looking for volunteers and this is a great opportunity to give back to those that have sacrificed so much.
Last but not least, I have volunteered to put together the slide show for this years Holiday Party, but have very few pictures. If everyone could look through their photos and see if you have anything you can send me please. elizabeth@amdaustin.com
Upcoming business: At next months meeting we will nominate officers for next years MMBC board of directors, vote on any proposed rule changes that will take effect in January, nominate a charity for our annual charity raffle and hopefully select a location for our Annual Holiday Party. Please, if you are available, it would be wonderful to have as many teams as possible present at the November 3rd meeting.
As always, Vice President Pete Trevino ended the meeting with another great raffle!
Hope to see everyone at Lake Buchanan-
Elizabeth
