We had 4 teams come out to fish Amistad, however due to some complications one team had to go home early. All is well with them now. Y’all were greatly missed! The weather was nice but the fishing was tough. The great food and friends made up for the lack of fish caught.

Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club of Austin held their monthly meeting on October 4, 2016 at Threadgill’s on North Lamar. Teams who attended were Anderson, Davis, Huebel/Smith, Summers, and Wilson.

President Anderson started out the meeting by wishing a happy anniversary to the Browns (11th) and a happy birthday to Wayne (8th) and Rob (26th).

Tournament director Jeff announced results for our September tournament that was held at Inks Lake. There were 3 teams that fished. Results were 3rd place was Team Smuebel with 3.26 lbs, 2nd place was Team Summers with 6.60 lbs, and 1st place was Team Davis with 8.37 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Jeff H. with a 2.13. Brenda had women’s big bass with a 2.13.Next on the TD agenda was voting on times, locations, and a date for upcoming tournaments. They are:

Lake passes are required for any launch point:

  • $4 for a 1-day pass. Good for 24 hours from time of purchase; they may be purchased for multiple days.
  • $10 for a 3-day pass. Good for 72 hours from time of purchase.
  • $40 for an annual pass. Good for 12 months from the month purchased.

Annual or daily lake use passes may be purchased at the Amistad Visitor Information Center (8a-4:30p)or at the automated vending machines located at Diablo East, Rough Canyon, or the Pecos River. When annual lake use passes are purchased at the automated machines, the receipt must be exchanged at the Visitor Information Center for a lake use pass sticker within 14 days of purchase or the receipt is invalid.

Mexican permits can also be obtained locally from:

  • Amistad Marine at 7348 US Hwy 90 W across from Spur 454, or by phone at 830-775-0878.
  • Three Rivers RV Park at 9670 US Hwy 90 W across from the Visitor Center, or by phone at 830-778-2241.

President Anderson started out the meeting by giving a huge congratulations to Jeff and Emily on their engagement! Happy birthday to Laurie on the 1st.

Tournament director Jeff announced results for our August tournament was held at Lake LBJ. There were 4 teams that fished the night tournament. Results were 1st place was Team Wilson with 16.02 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Steve with a 3.46. Laurie had women’s big bass with a 3.35. There were no other teams that brought in fish.

Next on the TD agenda was voting on times, locations, and a date for upcoming tournaments. They are:

Tournament director Jeff  announced results for our July tournament on Lake Bastrop, 6 teams fished. It was hot and bites were few and far between. Results were 3rd place was Team Huebel-Smith with 3.46 lbs. 2nd place was Team Davis with 6.02 lbs. 1st place was Team Wilson with 8.19 lbs. No men’s/women’s big bass were brought in over the slot limit.

Staying at Amistad Resort was brought up. Some teams are now moving to River Street Rentals, and some are staying put at Amistad Resort. The price for RSR is $40 a person, $80 a couple and they accept cash or check only.
