Vice-President Lesli Brown presided over the meeting in the absence of President Joe Connell who could not attend due a work related event. She wished a Happy Birthday to Donna Heinemann, Lifetime Member, on May 25 and Happy Anniversary wishes to Rosemarie & Pete Trevino on May 5 (24 years) & to Monica & Karl Wacker (7 years) on May 21.

Treasurer Rosemarie Trevino made the monthly financial report.

Tournament Director Jesse Sanchez announced the winners of the April 28 Lake LBJ tournament and Rosemarie presented the awards. The following dates, times and weigh-in locations were chosen:

• Saturday, May 19: Tournament on Choke Canyon will be held from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm with the Weigh-In at the South Shore ramp
• Saturday, June 2:  Tournament on Lake Buchanan will be held from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm with the Weigh-In at Burnet County Park (a lengthy discussion was held about  this) This tournament will be held before the June meeting
• Saturday, July 7: Tournament on Lake Austin will be a night tournament with the times and weigh-in location chosen at the July meeting.

New Business:

• Brent reminded everyone to participate in the forum on the web page.  If you are not receiving web page updates you are probably not registered.  Members discussed having member photos on the web page. Please send your photos of yourself to Brent and he will post them.
• Rosemarie and Pete also mentioned that they have stored the EZ-Up sun shelter in their garage for the past several years.  As the club no longer uses it during weigh-ins (hassle to put up and take down) , they wanted to know if they could sell it at an upcoming Onion Creek Subdivision Garage Sale (on May 26 from 7 am to 2 pm) and give the money back to the club.  Marilyn said that Team Connell might be interested in purchasing it from the club.  If her partner disagrees then Team Trevino will sell at the GS.

Prize Drawing:

Lesli did another stellar job of selecting a nice variety of prizes.  Team Brown now owns the steal token for the June meeting.

The team of Parish/Killough win their first tournament of the 2012 Season!

Thanks to all who participated in the Hawaiian themed tournament and special thanks to Marilyn for bringing the ice cold Hawaiian Punch drinks for everyone.

Joe Connell claims the men’s big bass honors with a nice 7.04 toad.

Women’s big bass goes to Brenda Davis with a pretty 3.09 pound largemouth.

President Joe Connell opened the meeting by wishing a Happy Birthday to Pete Trevino whose birthday was on this day (Pete’s dear wife, Rosemarie, brought delicious cake and cupcakes which she shared with the most appreciative members).  We also wished Happy Birthday to Jim Tyree whose birthday will be on April 30.

Treasurer Rosemarie Trevino collected dues for TABC and also presented the financial report of the club.

Tournament Director

• Jesse Sanchez announced the winners of the March 17 & 18 Two Day Tournament which was held on Falcon Reservoir and awards were presented.
• Jesse helped guide the members to select 6:30 am to 3:00 pm as the fishing times for the LBJ Tournament which will be held on Saturday, April 28. 

The weigh-in will be held at the LBJ Yacht Club and Marina. 

• We also chose Lake Buchanan and June 2 as the tournament for June, 2012.

Old Business:

• Marilyn told the members the eight rooms have been reserved in her name at The Bass Buster Inn near Sam Rayburn for teams that will participate in the TABC Championship Tournament on September 22 & 23.  The rooms were reserved for 9/21 & 9/22.

New Business:

• Brent told the club members that he as a friend who does rod repair.  O’Dell Woolley will repair one guide for $15.00 and for two or more the fee is $10.00 each.  Contact Brent for additional information.
• Brent and Leslie also mentioned wedding plans for October 6 2012.  Watch here for further details!
• Larry expressed his gratitude to Robert Brown, Cliff Davis and other club members for helping him with his trolling motor troubles while at Falcon.

 Prize Drawing:

• Leslie did some shopping at Jensen’s (http://www.jensonfishingtackle.com/) and presented a nice variety of prizes for tonight’s drawing.  I wrote down that team Trevino now owns the steal token.

Club President, Joe Connell welcomed everyone and wished Happy Birthday to Gina Martinez and Cliff Davis on March 11; to Lesli Brown on March 15; to Pat Gold on March 22 and to Brenda Davis on March 29. He also extended Happy Anniversary wishes to Jerry and Pat Gold on March 1 and to Allen and Glenda Summers on March 31. Congratulations to Karl Wacker for catching his personal best 8 pound, 4 ounce bass on Lake Austin two weeks ago. Way to go, Karl!

A bit later in the meeting, Brent Parish introduced his neighbors and guests, Jared and Britney Hagaman. Members present at this meeting included the Hagamans, who joined tonight (Welcome Team Hagaman!) and Teams Brown, Connell, Davis, Martinez, Parish, Pederzani, Sanchez, Summers, Trevino and Wacker.

Rosemarie Trevino presented the club’s Treasury Report.

The club members voted on times and weigh-in locations for the annual Spring Two-Day tournament which will be held March 17 & 18 on Lake Falcon:

• Saturday Fishing Times will be from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm
• Sunday Fishing Times will be from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
• The County ramp will be the Weigh-In location on both days

Members were also reminded about the club’s new policy where .25 ounces will be deducted from each team’s total weight for each dead fish brought to the weigh-in.

At tonight’s meeting members voted to hold the May tournament on May 19 on Choke Canyon.

Old Business:

• Members voted to stay in the TABC. Dues need to be paid and postmarked by April 15 so each team needs to pay as soon as possible (Make check out to MMBC)
• We discussed the upcoming TABC championship tournament which will be held on Sam Rayburn September 21-23. Glenda announced that the launch and weigh-in will be held at Cassels Boykin Park/Shelton Pavilion. http://casselsboykinpark.com/ Some lodging suggestions were discussed and members agreed that our club should block some rooms. We chose The Bass Buster Inn. Marilyn will phone them and block eight rooms. (Teams who will fish the TABC will be selected on the basis of standings without tournament drops two months before the TABC tournament)

New Business:

• The “Bassin for Babies Tournament” will be held on Lake Travis on April 1. Additional information can be found at www.bassin4babies.com. The organization is pretty sure that the launch site will be the Highlands Lakes Marina.
• Brent passed out some great lists of all-around hints.
• Rosemarie announced that she found some TABC and MMBC club patches that members and she shared a website called www.BassTexas.com with the members. When time permits, we will set up the MMBC on this site.

The monthly prize drawing was held and Team Brown now owns the Steal Token.

Mr. and Mrs. Bass Club of Austin February 2012 Newsletter

Club members gathered at the IHOP Restaurant near Highway 183 and Duvall Road for the monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 7.  Teams attending were:  Brown, Connell, Davis, Gold, Parish, Pederzani, Sanchez, Summers, and Wacker.

President Joe Connell wished Happy Birthday greetings to Robert Brown on February 9 and to Gail Pederzani and Marilyn Connell on February 10.  We also wished a Happy Anniversary to Gina and Jesse Martinez who will celebrate on February 25.

Pete Trevino made the Treasurer’s report as his wife, Rosemarie, was out of town. Members were reminded that club dues needed to be paid by this meeting

Brent Parish, Assistant Tournament Director, conducted the tournament portion of our meeting as Jesse Sanchez was not able to attend the meeting due to a work related event.  Awards were presented and fishing reports given from the Lake Bastrop  January 21 Tournament.

February 11 Fayette Lake Tournament

• Members voted to change the tournament from “Lake Rules” to a photo-paper tournament
• Tournament times were from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm and the weigh-in locations chosen was the Park Prairie ramp

The March Tournament will be the Spring Two Day Tournament and details will be chosen at the March 6 meeting

April Tournament:  We chose Saturday, April 28 as the date and Lake LBJ

There was no Old Business

New Business:

• Members were notified that per posts on The Austin Bass Fishing Forum, a local Top 6 tournament may be held in the fall
• The Texas Bass Couples sent email to the officers and details about their circuit were shared.
• Members held a discussion about joining TABC again this year. (From the TABC Bylaws:   · If applying club has twenty (20) members or less then said club must affiliate with 100% of its membership through the club.   Section 4:  Late Dues Annual dues of active members, as provided by these By Laws, are due on April 15th of each year. Dues paid after April 15^th (must be postmarked by April 15^th) will incur a $50 late fee) MMBC
• Members were asked to reflect on TABC and we will vote on club membership at the next meeting.  As stated above, because our club has over 20 members, we must have 100% of our members pay TABC dues.

Prize Drawing:  Vice-President Lesli selected some great prizes and the drawing was held.  Team Martinez holds the Steal Token and will retain it as they were unable to attend the meeting.
