Welcome to March! The Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club of Austin held their monthly meeting on March 7, 2017 at Threadgill’s on North Lamar. Teams who attended were Anderson, Davis, Gast, Huebel/Smith, Summers, Trevino, and Wilson.

We’d like to welcome 2 new teams this month. Kyle & Jennifer Carlile and Nate & Britt Green have joined us. We’re looking forward to fishing with y’all!

For those that missed the meeting, here’s the recap: President Anderson wished a happy birthday to Elizabeth (4th), Steve (10th), Cliff (11th), Cheryl (21st), and Brenda (29th) Happy birthday to you all! Happy anniversary to the Summers (31st)!

Tournament Director Jeff announced the results for our February tournament that was held at LBJ, 7 teams fished. Results were 3rd place was Team Summers with 8.92 lbs, 2nd place was Team Davis with 9.52 lbs, and 1st place was Team Wilson with 12.82 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Steve with a 3.34 and women’s big bass went to Brenda with a 2.70. Congratulations!

We’ve got 11 teams going so far. A couple are staying at Rayburn Inn (no rooms available), some at Super 8 in Jasper, and some are bringing rv’s and staying at Twin Dikes. Times will be voted on at next month’s meeting.

Welcome to February! The Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club of Austin held their monthly meeting on February 7, 2017 at Threadgill’s on North Lamar. Teams who attended were Anderson, Baker/Donoso, Davis, Huebel/Smith, Hunter, Summers, Trevino, and Wilson.

We’d like to welcome Tim and Isabel to the club, they joined us last night. We’re looking forward to fishing with y’all!

TD Jeff announced the results for our January tournament that was held at Stillhouse, 6 teams that came out and fished. Results were 3rd place was Team Summers with 4.67 lbs, 2nd place was Team Davis with 4.70 lbs, and 1st place was Team Anderson with 19.79 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Jeff with a 7.95. Women’s big bass went to Elizabeth with a 2.62. Congrats on your sweep Team Anderson!

Rooms are blocked under Emily Smith at Rayburn Inn, formerly Bassbuster Inn. (Rooms were completely remodeled in fall ‘16.) Their new number is 409-698-3002.

Old Business:
Club party- A huge thank you to the Summers for hosting again! We had some amazing food and drinks. It was great to see everyone!
New Business:
The club voted on TABC membership this year. We will be joining. TABC dues are due by April 15th, but if you could pay at the April meeting so we can make sure we get them in on time. TABC will be fishing at Lake Falcon Sept 30th & Oct 1st. Pete has rooms blocked for us at Sunbridge. Their number is 956-765-1221. If you don’t have your Mexico fishing license, it will be beneficial to get one. Falcon Lake Tackle sells them- $60 for a year, $40 for a week. If you call ahead he can have it ready for you at will-call when you get there.

Tournament Director Jeff announced the results for our December tournament that was held at Fayette, 5 teams that came out and fished. Results were 3rd place was Team Summers with 9.63 lbs, 2nd place was Team Trevino with 11.05 lbs, and 1st place was Team Hunter with 11.76 lbs.

Next up on the TD agenda: The January tournament location has been changed to Stillhouse, due to lake lowering. LBJ is rescheduled for February.

Christmas party food. I’ll email out the list so everyone has who is bringing what. If you are wanting to participate in the White Elephant gift exchange, each person needs to bring a $25 wrapped gift for our club party on February 4th. There will be a flipping contest, start practicing and bring your rod!

Club dues are due now. If you haven’t paid yet, please by the January 15th tournament.

New Business:
We will be discussing our club membership with TABC or another MMBC championship next month.

Our spring 2 day will be held in April. We will vote on that next month, please bring lakes and lodging information.

Congratulations to our 2016 Anglers of the Year, Steve and Laurie Wilson! 2nd place is Team Davis, 3rd place is Team Summers.

Men’s big bass of 2016 went to Allen Summers. He had a 10.57 at Lake Austin.

Tournament director Jeff announced results for our November tournament that was held at Stillhouse Hollow. There were 6 teams that came out and fished. Results were 3rd place was Team Davis with 6.30 lbs, 2nd place was Team Wilson with 6.44 lbs, and 1st place was Team Anderson with 8.60 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Allen with a 3.05 lbs bass. Brenda had women’s big bass with a 1.77.

*First up was finding a weekend that worked for everyone to attend our club Christmas party. We will be having Christmas in February, on the 4th. We will be sending out a group email to sign up for dishes/sides/dessert to bring. Please be on the lookout for this.

*There were no rule changes brought in, so we will continue with our current rules for the next year.

* TABC will be having their first annual Major League Fishing Invitational Tournament on February 11, 2017 at Stillhouse. Tournament time is from 7:00a-3:00p. Weigh in will be at Comanche Gap Pavilion, Dana Peak Park. It is $30 a person (must have 2 people), plus $5 fee for scoretracker. Each angler needs to have a smart phone, email address, and scale. If there are any questions on scoretracker, you can go to www.scoretrackerlive.com If you need an entry form, you can email me and I’ll send you one. These need to be paid/turned in by January 20, 2017.

Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club of Austin held their monthly meeting on November 1, 2016 at Threadgill’s on North Lamar. Teams who attended were Anderson, Davis, Trevino, Summers, and Wilson.

President Anderson started out the meeting with some thoughts and prayers for a few of our teammates. Brenda, Jeff and Pat, we all hope that you all are back to 100% very quickly. Happy birthday to Jeff H (9th) and Kadence (12th). Happy anniversay to the Gasts (27th).

Filling in for Tournament director Jeff, Laurie announced results for our October 2 day/ championship tournament that was held at Amistad. There were 3 teams that fished the tournament. Results were 3rd place was Team Summers with 10.23 lbs, 2nd place was Team Trevino with 10.40 lbs, and 1st place was Team Wilson with 12.72 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Steve with a 2.92 lbs bass. Rosemarie had women’s big bass with a 2.60.

First new business on the table is our club Christmas party. It’s going to be January 7, 2017. The Summers have graciously offered to host it again. Thank you both!! We will decided at the December meeting if we want to do catered (and where from) or if we want to do fajitas, and everyone bring a side/dessert.

Now that you all have had a chance for 2017 officers to sink in, I am only kidding on those nominations. The club voted to keep the same officers for 2017. Jeff, we will all pitch in and get the TD stuff done. Hope you are on the mend!!

President Anderson started out the meeting by wishing a happy anniversary to the Browns (11th) and a happy birthday to Wayne (8th) and Rob (26th).

Tournament director Jeff announced results for our September tournament that was held at Inks Lake. There were 3 teams that fished. Results were 3rd place was Team Smuebel with 3.26 lbs, 2nd place was Team Summers with 6.60 lbs, and 1st place was Team Davis with 8.37 lbs. Men’s big bass went to Jeff H. with a 2.13. Brenda had women’s big bass with a 2.13.Next on the TD agenda was voting on times, locations, and a date for upcoming tournaments. They are:

Lake passes are required for any launch point:

  • $4 for a 1-day pass. Good for 24 hours from time of purchase; they may be purchased for multiple days.
  • $10 for a 3-day pass. Good for 72 hours from time of purchase.
  • $40 for an annual pass. Good for 12 months from the month purchased.

Annual or daily lake use passes may be purchased at the Amistad Visitor Information Center (8a-4:30p)or at the automated vending machines located at Diablo East, Rough Canyon, or the Pecos River. When annual lake use passes are purchased at the automated machines, the receipt must be exchanged at the Visitor Information Center for a lake use pass sticker within 14 days of purchase or the receipt is invalid.

Mexican permits can also be obtained locally from:

  • Amistad Marine at 7348 US Hwy 90 W across from Spur 454, or by phone at 830-775-0878.
  • Three Rivers RV Park at 9670 US Hwy 90 W across from the Visitor Center, or by phone at 830-778-2241.
